Veedersburg, Ind. (CNS) — Mrs. Martha E. "Mattie" Harding, 89, a former resident of Veedersburg, died yesterday (Oct. 1, 1967) at the Nance Nursing Home in Danville. She had been in failing health for several years. Born March 9, 1878, at Silver Island, in Fountain County, she was the daughter of James A. and Susan Rich Chatt. She was married Aug. 6, 1913, to Barry Harding, who died April 9, 1955. Mrs. Harding was a member of the New Liberty Christian Church and Hillsboro Order of Eastern Star Chapter. She was the first and only graduate of the Hillsboro High in 1900. She also graduated from Valparaiso and Terre Haute Colleges and taught in the Fountain County area for several years. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Marie Edwards of Danville; two step sons, Russell and James Harding of Danville; a sister, Mrs. Dora Lowe of Atlanta, Ind.; a grandson and 10 step grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fishero Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe C. Detamore will officiate. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Tuesday.  --typed by Walt W
